Charlie Shufeldt covered a range of topics related to the Royalties, including innovations in technology. Charlie not only facilitated a deeper understanding of trends that flow within the Elk Range Time Line, that flew into the portfolio overrun management tactics.

I paid a great deal of my attention to Charlie’s elaboration on the broker usage, and the part where they do these processes by themselves. I would love to learn from the audience being presen

t and reading this post, to comment on Charlie’s use of the brokers, not consultants, and how these things work for you and the company that you are working for.

I remember in earlier years of VANGUARD, our CEO violated company policy for using brokers, used a broker from Oklahoma that brought the deal from South Louisiana with the loud scream, “...we’re toasted...and we want to sell at premium...”

I do understand brokers want to “sell something” we all do, but, the painting “it” green the wrack, crosses the redline of professionalism. The Oklahoma broker listed client’s “assets”also in Western Texas, Permian, that were pretty close to Odesa. On the BS their assets glittered better than gold. We we went there to check it out. Michael sent me report, “...Czes, no one was here since USAir Force bombed this dump completely in WWII...things are rust through as well....” Also, the Oklahoma broker painted blue the CF where there was for past couple years losses of over $2MM based of $11MM income during that period of time. Charlie didn’t went into depths of their brokers’ dealings.

Unfortunately, bad things are thrown at us too often, and we must deal with that. Each story is different, and we handle these things in different way. Otherwise, how to uncover bad guys in business to point to a “red flag” proposition. Also unfortunately, we do not like to talk about these things, we do not want to be know “we talk” as this is bad habit for some reason. On other hand, we are covering up the bad actors with the second breath.

I hope that Charlie’s presentation triggered other situations that others in the HPF audience experienced in their lives that should share with us. I do not believe that it should be shameful to share own bad experience here and there. In my four decades+ of my few lives (businesses), I have been roughed up well. But, I have nothing to be ashamed of, We were not the ones who were doing damage to other party(s).

Charlie’s part covering the situation from the COVID times, and what lessons we are still learning. I was fortunate to observe how people on different continents, Africa, Europa and North America were dealing with what COVID forced us to do, too survive! I am looking back in time to COVID and a question is coming back to me, was COVID an act of War?

Charlie, was a COVID the act of War? Share your thoughts about it. Thank you.

COVID — Lessons Still Being Learned

In my review of Charlie's segment covering the COVID era and the lessons we are still learning. I was fortunate to observe how people on different continents — Africa, Europe, and North America — were dealing with what COVID forced us to do: to survive.

Looking back at that time, a question keeps returning to me:

Was COVID an act of War?

Charlie — I would sincerely love to hear your thoughts on this. Thank you.

A Heartfelt Thank You

At the very end — but never to be forgotten — I want to thank my friends in the Houston Producers Forum back office, who do not spare themselves in delivering the Stellar Performance of each luncheon I attend.

Thank you, Becky and Tiffany!
